Electric Tapestry Releases ‘Orbiting Bodies’ EP
Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s own Electric Tapestry are set to launch listeners into new sonic dimensions with their latest EP, Orbiting Bodies. Known for their shimmering blend of space-rock atmospherics and pop-infused experimentation, the band continues to push boundaries while staying rooted in the raw energy of alternative rock.
Orbiting Bodies is a kaleidoscopic journey through sound – melding hypnotic guitar textures, soaring melodies, and rhythmic explorations that balance accessibility with bold experimentation. Each track offers a unique orbit, pulling listeners into Electric Tapestry’s expansive universe.
The EP contains the following tracks:
Lions’ Breath – a ditty about male chauvinists, hidden societies and privilege; the mythical ‘old boys club’. Invitation, favours for favours and lobbyists affecting our future for personal gain. Greed, oblivious cruelty and negligence for others, all in the name of productivity and upward mobility of the few.
Algorithm Bride – a power ballad about falling in love with technology and the ease at which we can find what we want so easily from our devices. When you stare into the algorithm, the algorithm stares back – and reflects back what you wish to see.
One of These Maybes – a pop tune adventure about life itself and those we leave behind – partners we didn’t end up starting families with and friends who have left us along the journey. Although the word is never used as a lyric, or referred to directly, the song is really about mortality and the choices we make in life.
Nostalgia Sick – a nod to progressive rock with a hint of both post-rock and heavy metal. This is a tune that continues some of the themes from the last track but warns the listener of what we may actually be yearning for is a past world that was unhealthy and unjust.
