Following their sold-out NZ tour, No Cigar release new single ‘Best Behaviour’

With their previous single Problem debuting at #4 on the Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart and their 4-date NZ tour selling-out, No Cigar return today with a brand new single; the gritty, addictive track Best Behaviour.

Laced with groove and anthemic in nature, the track explores the difficult task of confronting reality when it comes to meeting your significant other’s parents. Reliable in its anxiety, lead vocalist Willy Ferrier reckons the best time to listen to Best Behaviour is “on the way to their house”.
“Meeting the parents will always be a tense moment, laced with trepidation,” says Ferrier. “To be on one’s best behaviour is the expectation. To be nervous is understandable. To be perfect is unlikely.”
Written by the band with lyrics from Ferrier, Best Behaviour was engineered, produced and mixed by frequent collaborator Connor Jaine and mastered by Andy Baldwin. Ferrier had originally brought the song to the band a while back; however with a “dollop of Chantilly cream” – where the band finished the song – it was ready to serve.
“The rawness and fragility of Best Behaviour reflect everyone’s mind-state in such moments. Even being an artist can’t prepare you for moments like these.”
Best Behaviour is the third single to come from the band’s upcoming album; previously releasing their indie-rock anthem Problem. This single debuted at #4 on the Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart, was featured by Rolling Stone AU / NZ, and received airplay from Radio Hauraki, RNZ, Bayrock and multiple stations on the SRN.
Continuing to ride high in 2025, No Cigar sold-out their recent 4-date tour which took in Wellington, Auckland, Dunedin and Christchurch. Taking in a string of dates in May through the UK and Europe, the first of these shows in London has already sold out – prompting an upgrade to a bigger venue!
No Cigar formed in 2019 and has had a rapid rise to recognition as one of the country’s most promising acts. They have toured the world with their signature blend of psychedelic rock and groovy guitars, all the while drawing critical acclaim for albums such as 2023’s The Great Escape, which featured the #1 rock radio smash hit, Concubine. The track also debuted at #10 on 2024’s The Rock radio annual yearly countdown – the highest debut for a new band. The Great Escape continues to chart in the top 20 on the Aotearoa albums chart, where it has remained for 66 weeks.
Their debut album Bienvenido, released in 2022, and their 2020 EP Radical Road have also earned them critical acclaim.
