Gnarling Unleash Debut Single + Video – ‘Animal’

Formed in mid‑2025, Gnarling is a relatively new outfit made up of veterans from the local shoegaze, post‑rock, and doom scenes, including members of Lizard Prom, Into Orbit, and Opium Eater.

Their new track Animal was originally written a decade ago for Tyley’s previous band Lizard Prom, but never made it past the idea stage. Now resurrected by Gnarling, the song has taken on a new life – an atmospheric, aggressive, and thematically confronting introduction to the band’s sound.

The single is accompanied by a psychedelic, homemade video shot entirely from beneath a coffee table in the lounge of Tyley’s Wellington home.
