Jackson Owens finds faith in love with new single ‘My Life’

Tūrangi-born singer-songwriter Jackson Owens (Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Awa, Te Arawa, Ngāi Tahu) returns with My Life, a heartfelt new single that marks an exciting new chapter for the acclaimed independent artist.
Out now, the single My Life is the title track and third single from Owens’ upcoming EP of the same name, arriving November 14. It follows his earlier releases Something Good and Coming Home, continuing his signature blend of soulful storytelling and emotional honesty that has connected deeply with fans across Aotearoa and the Pacific.
“My Life is about finding love that feels heaven-sent, like an angel came down from above,” says Owens. “It’s about love that heals you, restores your faith, and gives you strength to keep going through anything.”
Produced by Chauncey Owens, the track features an impressive line-up of musicians, including Stan Bicknell on drums, Ben Wilcock on organ, and Mike Kirk on steel guitar. Backing vocals from Owens’ sister and close friends Shane, Kore, and Georgia add warmth and depth, bringing a soulful gospel feel to the single.
The accompanying video, shot and produced by Chylo Flavell, weaves between dynamic performance scenes and a cinematic small-town love story filmed in Tūrangi. The visuals celebrate love, home, and connection, themes that run through the heart of Owens’ music.
Following the success of Coming Home, which has surpassed 350,000 streams, Owens says My Life reflects his growth as both an artist and a person.
“I’m not chasing trends or trying to fit a sound anymore. I’m creating from a place of truth,” he says. “‘This single feels like the start of a new chapter. I’m still grounded in soul and R&B, but with a touch of that country storytelling that’s been inspiring me lately.”
With more than 29 million streams across his catalogue, Owens continues to carve out his own path as an independent artist. His connection to his Māoritanga remains central to his creative process, shaping the stories and spirit that define his sound.
As part of this next chapter, Owens will perform at WIPCE 2025 at Aotea Square on November 16, where he’ll showcase new material from the EP alongside fan favourites.
My Life is available on all major streaming platforms now. The EP follows on November 14.
