JessB Announces New Album ‘Matters of the Heart’

After drip feeding fans with two killer new tracks, Aotearoa hip-hop powerhouse JessB has revealed that she will release her highly anticipated new album Matters of the Heart on Thursday September 10.

In June, the Tāmaki Makaurau-based artist released Not Today – an experimental and high energy track rooted in heartbreak, but with a hopeful undercurrent. The song quickly became a top 10 alternative radio charting favourite in Aotearoa and a staple across SRN playlists.

JessB followed it up with the recent release of See You There, which received praise from music critic Graham Reid from The Listener:

“Delivered in her quietly determined and persuasive voice, this new single… by Jess B reduces her part to short terse verses. But it gains its power from her co-production with Andrew Meyer where her repetition of the title is multi-layered over a clattering percussion, cello and intense backing vocals from a choir.”

JessB has spent the last seven years traversing Aotearoa, Australia, Asia, Europe, and the UK, through the shared global cultures that connect hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, ragga and afrobeats. Along the way, she’s shared stages with Kehlani, and Coldplay; has recorded with Sister Nancy, and Sampa The Great and headlined her own tours. Not slowing down, JessB has upcoming performances including ELLE & L’s Festival in Berlin on August 29, Circus in Osaka, Japan on September 21, Circus x Circus Odaiba Festival in Tokyo on September 23, and AfroSoul Festival in Brisbane on October 11.
