Jessica Leigh Shares Her Vibrant Second Single Of 2021 – ‘Teenage Romeo’
Recently chosen to feature on Radio New Zealand’s Introducing, Wellington based pop artist Jessica Leigh releases Teenage Romeo – the second single from her upcoming EP Summerland.
Coming hot on the heels of her latest release Summer Royalty – which landed Leigh on Spotify editorial playlists and Apple Music’s New Music Daily – Teenage Romeo spans the pop spectrum; with soft, pensive verses and bright choruses, ultimately culminating in a big, joyous synth-pop finale.
The track sees Leigh reminisce on a summer love from her teenagehood in its entirety – from its innocent, “fairytale” beginnings to its inevitable end as the summer drew to a close. Sonically, the track represents this process – beginning with soft piano and a down tempo beat, eventually blooming into an emotion fuelled synth daydream.
The lyrics of Teenage Romeo read as delicate prose, illuminating Leigh’s signature, poetic songwriting style. To bring the track to life, she teamed up with long time collaborator/producer Jules Evans. (Eric Clapton, Simply Red)
