Luna and the Aether Release Debut Album ‘Metanoia’
Three-piece gothic alt-rock band Luna and the Aether from Otautahi, New Zealand, today release their debut album, Metanoia following the release of two heavy, fuzz-drenched singles Mirage and Sojourn.
Their forthcoming album Metanoia sees Luna’s dark folk essence exist at the heart of the heavy instrumentation. Exploring repentance, alchemy, death and forgiveness through lyricism laced in imagery of temples, healers and spirituality. There is a message of returning to one’s self which reigns strong throughout the album, in a very raw and honest quest to make amends with ourselves in times that aim to tear us away from our true spirit. Thus returning to love as an act of devotion after so long drowning in darkness.
Metanoia opens with the leading track Mirage which was the first single released by the gothic alt-rock trio back in May, accompanied by a music video filmed entirely on VHS. The album continues to reach into heavy doom/grunge/gaze realms with tracks like Magnolia and Sojourn, while more delicate songs like Haven and Godsend carry a softness and vulnerability to balance it out; the light to the dark.
The release of Metanoia will be celebrated with an intimate listening party at Otautahi Chrystal Palace on August 2nd, where elements of ritual and ceremony will be weaved throughout the evening creating an immersive experience extending beyond the music itself. Honouring the album as it returns to the aether at last. Following this the trio will depart on a New Zealand Tour in October, visiting capital city Wellington, Dunedin and of course a hometown show in Christchurch.
