Formed in 2025 in Ōtautahi, NZ, Luna and the Aether are not wasting any time. The band worked hard in their first year; writing and recording their debut album before even playing live. Now with a few very successful live shows under their belt, they are eager to release their recorded works.

Mirage is the first release off their upcoming album (due to release July 31st), and is a hard-hitting groovy track which blends heavy riffs with ethereal vocals, while the rhythm section drives the momentum right up until breaking point. Featuring Luna Cubillana on vocals and guitar, Evan Oijordsbaken on bass and Dave Van Eerden on drums. The song embodies the essence of Luna and the Aether perfectly, journeying from delicate and dreamy psychedelia through to heavy fuzzed out doom riffs and blast beats.

Mirage carries a message of empowerment, in a world so clouded by escapism and numbing, Luna’s lyricism is an invitation to return to ourselves, to face whatever truths lay dormant and to realise the vast power we hold within. Dancing between English and Spanish melodies gracefully, Luna invites you into a deeply personal and unique world.

Influences such as Emma Ruth Rundle, Marriages, Chelsea Wolf, Evanescence, Faetooth, Windhand and Searows glimmer through their music, but their own unique sound reigns strong above these. Heavily lyric driven, and constantly seeking to invoke continental shifts within their listeners. Ever exploring contrast, dancing between icy, shimmering realms and thick, grungy realms. The driving and intricate drums, melodic and punching bass lines, jangly and meaty guitar tones, allow Luna’s haunting and resonant vocals to soar like birds above the open sea.
