Once again produced by U.S. platinum-certified collaborator Numonics (Marlon Craft, Freddie Gibbs, Arrested Development), Same Sun features keyboardist Matthew Little; an artist in his own right, Little has played and recorded with Kendrick Lamar, Musiq Soulchild, J. Cole, Kali Uchis, Anderson .Paak, John Mayer, Bilal and Talib Kweli, to name a few.
“The song deals with the passing of time – every moment experienced under the same sun we all share, is instant and then a memory. The second verse is dedicated to the memory of my musical brother and South Auckland legend Phil Fuemana, who tragically passed in 2005. We used to hang out at his parent’s house in Otara writing songs, listening to Luther Vandross and Alexander O’Neal, and dream about taking our music around the world.
“Musically Numonics and I wanted this song to bring a long, lazy summer vibe, like the summers I experienced as a kid; where one day would meld into the next, and life was just lived.
