Merlia Celebrates ‘Magic Woman’ Single Release with Auckland & Whangārei Shows

Auckland artist Merlia brings her single release show to Whangārei and Auckland this coming August, to celebrate the launch of her second single Magic Woman.

Known for her immersive and richly textured sound, Merlia will perform live alongside some of New Zealand’s finest musicians. Each set promises to feel like “falling into a deep cut dream.”

Magic Woman is a vibrant counterpoint to her debut single Sicily, released in March. Where Sicily was intimate with trance-like melodies and ocean-washed production, Magic Woman leans into upbeat gypsy jazz and catchy lyrics you can’t help but dance along to.

Chance of Sun will join Merlia in both Whangārei and Auckland. Merlia will also be joined by Leah Land in Whangārei and Carl o Yāng in Auckland.

Chance of Sun is an indie-folk trio of friends and multidisciplinary artists Zoe Crane, Molly Curnow, and Ruby Pledge. Brought together by crossed paths and curiosity, their signature blend of tender three-part harmonies creates music that is intimate, gentle, rhythmic, and layered with secrets and humour.

Leah Land hails from the Far North of Aotearoa, where her musical journey began around the campfire and at the marae in Hokianga. Immersed in the sounds of ngāhere and ocean, Leah has emerged as a folk singer and songwriter collecting songs that resonate deeply with themes of environmental care, social justice and storytelling.

Carl o Yāng is an alternative indie artist hailing from Marlborough. Carl’s music is a sanctuary of reflection and invokes a sense of presence and stillness in the listener. Carl’s mission is to help encourage positive change and spiritual growth through his songs His live performances are an enchanting experience due to his relaxed humour on stage, balanced with emotional and heart-touching songs.
