Magic Factory Release New EP

Aotearoa’s favourite 8‑piece boogie rockers Magic Factory have released their brand‑new Wild Times EP, recorded and released on Friday 31 July. The band cut six fresh tunes at a West Auckland studio hand‑built by guitarists Vinnie and Matt, keeping things as gloriously homespun as ever.
You might assume that after a decade of playing songs that sound like “the music you find on tapes in truck stop parking lots” (Vice Magazine), the band would take a sharp turn. A bold new direction. A reinvention.
No. It’s the same old.
The Wild Times EP is now available here and here.
Track by track:
– Brain Dead Boogie – A tale of alligators and potaters told over 12 glorious bars.
– Wild Times – A garage rock banger that synthesises the ennui shitshow of modern living into just three words.
– Old Friends – A true story of travelling to Dartmoor to visit a childhood pal who is a professional storyteller, only to fall asleep in his kitchen mid‑regale.
– The Boogie Has Landed – Imagine Funkadelic’s mothership landing in the woods, but instead of George and Bootsy climbing out, it’s Status Quo.
– Rent or Drugs – You can only have one. Should be “afford,” but the band forgot when recording. Plus “have” scans better.
– Long Legged Buzz – It’s about a buzz that just won’t quit.

To celebrate the inevitable runaway viral success of the EP, Magic Factory will host the Wild Times Party at Whammy Public Bar, Friday 21 August. Tickets just $10 in advance.
