Legendary Aotearoa rockers Push Push make an emphatic return with their first new song in eight years: E.P.B. (Clutching At The Sky). It’s is a time-warped, re-built version of the live favourite, Euphoric Plunder In Bliss, from their classic 1992 album A Trillion Shades Of Happy.

In-house producer Andy Kane used AI tools to strip the vocals from the original album recording, then set about re-arranging the track, riff by riff. Drummer Scott Cortese and bassist Steve Abplanalp then re-recorded the rhythm section at Depot Studios in Auckland, while Sydney-based guitarists Silver and Kane did their parts in Kane’s home studio.  The end result is a raw, driving powerhouse that is a real world example of how AI tools can intersect with human creativity to create something fresh and exciting.

Aligning with their 35 Years of Trippin’ North Island tour,  Push Push will release a brand-new five-track EP, their first new music since 2017’s Talk 2 Me EP.

Alongside E.P.B (Clutching at the Sky), the 2026 EP will feature brand new songs The Truth and Under The Eye, and a song written in 1993 but never recorded – the rollicking Sleep In The Morning.

Also on the release is a track that may be the most personal song they’ve ever written. Starting as a soundcheck jam in the early 90’s, the song was finally completed 30 years later in 2024 as Mike Havoc and fellow lyricist Andy Kane hacked through their usual bravado to arrive at a heart-wrenching song named Skin.

The Push Push tour is a great chance to reconnect with fans and rock out hits like Trippin’, Song 27, and What My Baby Likes, plus other fan favourites. Adding in tracks from their brand new five-track EP – this isn’t just a reunion, it’s a reinvention.
