Auckland’s powerhouse trio The Gemini Effect return with their latest single, Drop the Needle – a celebration of the emotional spark that ignites the moment vinyl meets the groove.
Drop the Needle is about the transfer of emotion that happens when the needle hits the spinning vinyl grooves. The track ebbs and flows with the magical process of playing a record as the band gives a nod to the influences that shaped them. With lyrics like “A to Z, Rock to Dread, Strummer fed – get inside of your head…”, Drop the Needle captures the thrill of musical discovery.
Drop the Needle appears on the band’s 2024 album Hotwire Babylon – a psychedelic rollercoaster that twists from reimagined origin stories to deep-brain wanderings. Picture Glastonbury transplanted into the heart of a futuristic cityscape straight out of Blade Runner, then dusted with a little sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll.
The Gemini Effect channel raw energy with fearless honesty.
