Tora Bombora Set To Return In 2027

After a four-year hiatus, one of Aotearoa’s most cherished boutique music festivals is officially returning, announcing that a new dawn is breaking.
Tora Bombora will make its long awaited comeback in 2027, bringing live music, community, and conscious connection back to the wild and rugged coastline of Tora, Wairarapa. Set against one of the most breathtaking coastal backdrops in the North Island, the festival returns bigger than ever, expanding capacity to 2,000 attendees while remaining firmly committed to the intimate, community-led spirit that made it so beloved.
Known for its carefully curated lineups, deep sense of connection, and uniquely off-grid setting, Tora Bombora has built a reputation as more than just a music festival – it is an experience grounded in place, people, and purpose.
Festival creator Louis Murphy Harris says the return marks an exciting new chapter.
“After four years away, bringing Tora Bombora back feels incredibly special. The world – and our little corner of Aotearoa – has changed a lot since we last gathered on the coast. The pause gave me time to travel, learn, grow, and fall back in love with the things that made Tora special in the first place. Now feels like the right time to reconnect through music, nature, and community.
There is a whakataukī that feels particularly fitting: Anō ko te marama kua ngaro, kua ara anō – like the moon that disappears and rises again. Some things aren’t gone forever. Sometimes they simply wait for the right season to return.”
From its inception, Tora Bombora has championed local emerging talent and celebrated the richness of Aotearoa’s music scene. The 2027 edition will continue that mission, showcasing an eclectic lineup of artists from across New Zealand, while creating space for discovery, collaboration, and meaningful cultural exchange.
At its core, Tora Bombora remains a boutique and conscious festival – one that prioritises sustainability, community care, and genuine connection over scale for scale’s sake.
Despite increased capacity, the festival remains committed to preserving the intentional, immersive experience that has defined Tora Bombora from the beginning.
With limited phone reception and the nearest shop nearly an hour away, Tora offers a rare invitation to disconnect from daily noise and fully immerse in the present. Festival-goers can expect a weekend of exceptional live performances, art, food, community, and unforgettable moments under vast Wairarapa skies.
The Tora Bombora 2027 lineup will be unveiled and tickets will go on sale on August 10.

A new dawn is breaking.
For three summers, the paddocks sat quietly.
The stages slept, the winds kept moving across the hills,
and the coast returned to its familiar rhythm.
But some things never really leave. They simply wait.
A new dawn is breaking.
