Unleash your inner Phoenix! Dreams of the Damned Release ‘Ashes to Ashes’

Ashes to Ashes is Dreams of the Damned’s sophomore album which contains 11 tracks with under an hour of Metal power. This album sparks large improvement lyrically, thematically, and sonically. The theme of this album is an introspective of how Zed faces mental adversity as most of the songs come from dark patches within his life. The main story depicts a Phoenix being forced to battle demons but losing each battle until an Angel appears to help the Phoenix. With the rejuvenated power of the Angel, the Phoenix can defeat the demons. The Angel disappears and the Phoenix lives and fights in honour of the Angel that helped him.
The second half of the album (Notice Me I (Confession) through to Suicide Note) seamlessly transitions into each other and follows the story of somebody battling his inner thoughts of falling in love, second-guessing himself, and being stuck in his head where his thoughts sentence him to death.
Dreams of the Damned is a metal band with only one member. Zed Ramsay aimed to create something inspired by his favourite genres, Thrash Metal, Progressive Metal and Metalcore. Using these elements from those genres, he merges aspects of them to create the Dreams of the Damned sound. The dark and brooding sound goes hand in hand with his evil imagery and themes. Some of the most common themes are negative past experiences and facing adversity head-on.
The name “Dreams of the Damned” originates from a double entendre that could indicate that somebody could be having dreams of the Damned, or that the Damned can also have Dreams. Dreams of the Damned were also crowned victors for Dig the Gig: Wellington 2024.
