Written by Wolves Launch ‘The Secret Sessions Volume II’ with acoustic version of ‘Please, Just Breathe’
One of New Zealand’s most electrifying rock exports, Written By Wolves, are set to begin a powerful new chapter with The Secret Sessions Volume II. Known for their explosive energy and genre-bending sound, the band now offers a second intimate glimpse into their music – raw, vulnerable, and deeply resonant.
The acoustic series kicks off today, Friday 12 September with Please, Just Breathe – a haunting reimagining that lays bare the emotional core of the original track. Produced by Michael Murphy and Davie Wong, and mastered by Wong, the acoustic version showcases the band’s cinematic instincts in their most intimate form yet.
Please, Just Breathe tells the story of the day vocalist Michael Murphy’s dad passed away, and the desperate journey to be by his side. “This song documents everything I felt and thought in that time and the emphatic plea for him to please, just breathe until I could get to him…”, says Murphy. “Ultimately, the song is a realisation that the time we have together is finite – and how important it is not to take those moments together for granted.”
