Ōtautahi/Christchurch group Yurt Party will release their second album, 200, today, 24 October 2025.

With their second album 200,  they bring a more rounded studio experience compared to their debut, with room for the quizzical and the cosy, as well as their signature barn stompers.

The record came together over two phases. The band first tracked an album in winter and set it aside. A year later they returned to the material and kept several takes that had sat on the shelf – including The Gambler and Uncle Boland. The bulk of the final album was recorded at bassist/producer Josh Logan’s home studio in Lyttelton, with family life happening around the gear and the odd spa between overdubs. On cold days the band watched the sun setting over Diamond Harbour across the water.

200 keeps the live, dance-first approach and folds in a few different feels:

No Numbers – a slower, cinematic cut.
The Gambler – a psych-leaning instrumental from the early session.
Uncle Boland – a rocksteady-style tune.
City Cat – reggaeton-adjacent; sparked by drummer Thomas Isbister’s ride on Brisbane’s Metro.
– Previously released singles: Fela (2024), Ding Dong Swing (19 Sept 2025), Pocket Weasel (10 Oct 2025).

A New Zealand tour will follow the release. Plans for shows in Australia are in motion and will be announced separately.
