French for Rabbits release new EP ‘In the End I Won’t Be Coming Home’
New Zealand dream-pop outfit (from Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington) French for Rabbits, today release their second EP In the End I Won’t Be Coming Home, a lush four-track featuring string arrangements by Elliot Vaughan and performed by The Black Quartet. The songs see the band, thematically speaking, returning to isolated windswept coastlines on songs such as Baring Head and the EP title track, which is depicted in the album cover art and in the corresponding music video.
In physical format, this new collection sits on a beautifully designed vinyl record on both standard 180mg black vinyl and limited edition coke bottle green, with their debut 2012 EP Claimed by the Sea snuggly on the B-Side. These two EP’s, both recorded with audio engineer Lee Prebble but 11 years apart, showcase a fascinating journey for the band, from their rustic, enchanting beginnings to the sweeping and emotive soundscapes of this latest work, both centered around the smoky vocals and gently piercing songwriting of vocalist/musician Brooke Singer.

About the Band
French for Rabbits formed in 2012, releasing 3 full length EP’s, several singles and remixes and 2 EP’s over the past decade. They have toured extensively in Europe, the US and New Zealand, and been nominated for the Aotearoa Silver Scrolls, Taite Music Prize and New Zealand Music Awards. The band on the new EP features: Brooke Singer (vocals, guitar, piano, production), John Fitzgerald (guitar), Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa (drums, production), Penelope Esplin (synth, vocals), and Phoebe Johnson (bass, vocals)
About Claimed by the Sea
Claimed by the Sea was recorded between a living room and The Surgery studios and features the talents of Brooke Singer and John Fitzgerald alongside Will Skleners (bass), Ben Lemi (drums, vocals) and a bevy of friends. The EP and a subsequent remix introduced their music to a wider audience through early DIY tours through Europe, UK radioplay and blog attention at the tail end of the MySpace era.
The EP is out now via AllGood Absolute Alternative Records and available on streaming services, and the CD, and vinyl available on Bandcamp and from New Zealand record stores.
