Luna and the Aether Release Single ‘Sojourn’ + Announce Album

Christchurch Gothic Alt-Rock trio Luna and the Aether release their second single Sojourn on June 26th ahead of their forthcoming album Metanoia coming July 31st.
Their newest release Sojourn is a heavy, alt-doom track which opens with Luna’s haunting vocals, enchanting you before the crushing riffs break the song wide open. Alongside the peaks of intensity there are moments of delicate introspection, reflecting on how love can be ‘the libration’ we seek, and a beacon that brings us home to ourselves after being displaced.
This message of returning to one’s self reigns strong throughout Luna and the Aether’s upcoming album. The title Metanoia refers to a profound transformation; a pilgrimage of sorts to a new way of being. Themes of repentance, forgiveness, death and surrender weave together in a very raw and honest quest to make amends with ourselves in times that aim to tear us away ourselves. Returning to love as an act of devotion, after so long drowning in darkness.
Metanoia opens with the leading track Mirage which was the first single released by the gothic alt-rock trio. The album reaches into the heavier realms with tracks like Mirage, Magnolia and Sojourn, while more delicate songs like Haven and Godsend carry a softness to balance it out; like the light to the dark.
Luna and the Aether have established themselves as a band to be taken seriously, while glimmers of their influences can be felt in their music, their sound is uniquely their own. Luna’s dark folk essence exists at the heart of the heavy instrumentation, blending alternative, doom, post-rock and shoegaze elements with profound lyricism to create an ethereal and visceral experience.
A project born at the convergence of tenderness and turmoil, Luna and the Aether are driven by a calling to bridge the gap between light and dark.
