Midwave Breaks Drop New Single ‘Hiasom’ ahead of Full Album Release
Tauranga Alt-Rock duo Midwave Breaks are surprise-releasing their Brand New single Hiasom today – No rollout, no pre-save, just dropping it, like it’s hot.
It’s the band’s third single of 2026, following two tracks that have already made a solid dent in the NZ Rock Airplay Chart this year. Hiasom keeps that momentum going, and offers another taste of the band’s forthcoming debut full-length album – currently in production for Vinyl and CD, and scheduled for release in October.
A straight-up rock ‘n’ roller, Hiasom is heavy on the riffs and high on positive energy. The title stands for “Happiness Is A State Of Mind” – An aspirational anthem, not a given, but a reminder – that joy is worth chasing, even in uncertain times. Like most of the band’s catalogue, Hiasom was written, recorded, mixed and mastered by the duo themselves, in a spare room of a farmhouse in Tauranga – and is part of a body of work they’ve spent over a year crafting into their debut album.
Midwave Breaks have earned a reputation as a formidable live act, known for a genuinely captivating stage show. Fans will get their hands on the full album in October, and can hear Hiasom live in November as part of a string of album release shows – details coming soon.
