Bazza Brown Releases ‘Down South’
Rising country-rock artist Bazza Brown today launches his latest offering in the form of the new southern anthem Down South.
Bazza Brown is quickly gaining traction as one of the south’s rising country-rock voices, with airplay on iHeartCountry NZ and early backing from Six60’s Chris Mac. After connecting through his original music, Brown was invited by Mac to record his track Singalong in Auckland, a collaboration that led to him opening for Six60 on their sold-out Grassroots Tour stop in Balclutha.
Writing songs shaped by lived experience, Bazza blends country storytelling with the grit and energy of rock, alongside subtle nods to his glam rock and grunge roots. His “trucker” country-rock sound captures the hard work, good times, and quiet moments of life in New Zealand’s deep south.
Now, Bazza steps into a new chapter with his latest single, Down South, a track that reflects his roots both sonically and thematically. Taking ques from the idyllic rural lifestyle and community setting he was blessed to grow up in.
Down South is both personal and geographically resonating.
The release is marked by a high-energy launch show in the deep south, featuring acclaimed artist Keily Smith and Southland favourites Kayson Road, including 2026 Gold Guitar winner Simon Thompson and multi award-winning artist Kayla Mahon.
With an easy-going authenticity and a live show that moves between anthems and ballads, Bazza Brown continues to build a catalogue defined by sincerity, storytelling, and southern pride.
