Emerging 18yr old Indie Artist Anna Laurence Set To Release Debut EP

Ōtepoti/Dunedin-based indie-pop artist Anna Laurence (18) is set to release her highly anticipated debut EP, When Tides Turn, on Friday, 18th of July, 2025. The five-track project is a poetic and emotionally honest collection of songs, rooted in nostalgia, introspection, and storytelling.
With delicate, open vocals layered over warm guitars and rich harmonies, Anna blends indie folk, alternative pop, and strong storytelling; drawing sounds from artists like Norah Jones, Lizzy McAlpine, and Fiona Apple – weaving together folk, pop, and alternative influences with her unique perspective.
“This EP represents fragments of my mind, emotions, and thoughts I have felt over the past couple of months. From a quiet little voice in the back of my head to the anger that dissipates on my tongue – every lyric stands on its own.” Anna says.
Since beginning songwriting at 13, Anna has won two national New Zealand songwriting competitions and has independently developed her skills in writing, production, and mixing. In 2023, she supported Sonia Wilson and Nigel Gavin on their South Island tour, gaining experience with live performance and connecting with audiences.
Recently, Anna has been building excitement across TikTok and Instagram, sharing visuals, lyrics, and behind-the-scenes content with her loyal fanbase. When Tides Turn will be available on all major streaming platforms from July 18th, with limited edition CDs to follow. She hopes to continue connecting with new listeners through her music, both online and through future live performances.
