Ahead of a nationwide tour in support of Split Enz, beloved indie darlings Hans Pucket return with their first new music since the band’s Taite Music Prize-nominated album No Drama – one of RollingStone Australia’s best albums of the decade.

G.Y.S.S. is a pop-rock anthem written out of post-lockdown desperation. The song was taken to a cold shed in rural Canterbury in the middle of a national winter tour, and explored through the band’s highly collaborative arrangement process. Band members Oliver Devlin, Callum Devlin, Jonathan Nott and Callum Passells injected their virtuosic stamp into the song, leading to one of their new album maxims: “more is more – leave them wanting less”

The final recording, a live take at the studio of producer Jon Pearce (The Beths), captures the excitement and joy of a band finally back in a room together.

“As we’re spread around the world we don’t get to play together as often as we’d like, so when we do, there’s a lot of energy – it’s always a celebration.” – Oli Devlin

The video by director Callum Devlin (The Weed Eaters) is taken from handycam footage of their 2025 tour of UK and Europe, anchored to a live performance uncannily in sync with the studio recording. Documentary fragments capture the surreal dread of their two week trip: 3:00am fog on the road to Munich; Hungry crows in London; Traffic on the M; And the band attempts to cross the Rhine but is stuck in a loop – will they make it to Zurich?

Alongside their arena debut Hans Pucket will also be playing an exclusive sideshow at Auckland’s Whammy Bar next week, details to follow via the bands Instagram.

Get your shit straight, and listen to Hans Pucket’s ripping return on G.Y.S.S.
