Shihad Celebrate 20 Years Of ‘Love Is The New Hate’ With First Time Vinyl Release

Legendary Kiwi rock band Shihad are today celebrating the 20th anniversary of their acclaimed sixth studio album Love Is The New Hate with a long-awaited vinyl release – for the first time ever – arriving today, July 25, 2025, via Warner Music.

Originally released in 2005, Love Is The New Hate marked a powerful turning point in Shihad’s career – a raw, unapologetic return to their heavy roots. Produced by the renowned GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers), the album was recorded at Richardson’s studio on the West Coast of Canada, following months of intense writing sessions across Wellington and Melbourne.

Featuring fan favourites like Alive, Shot In The Head, and All The Young Fascists, the record struck a chord with audiences for its politically charged energy and sonic intensity. Two decades on, it remains one of Shihad’s most vital and visceral releases.

“We poured everything into this album – the frustration, the disillusionment, and the will to push through it all,” says Jon Toogood. “It deserves to be heard on vinyl, the way rock records were meant to be experienced.”
