Ash Sales Turns Inward and Outward on New EP ‘Earthside’ ft. Earth & Song
After sharing a handful of singles over recent months, instrumental guitarist Ash Sales has released the EP they belong to. Earthside, an EP of five tracks, is out today in full and it’s the most personal, unhurried music Ash has put out yet.
Longtime listeners know Ash for upbeat, cinematic guitar work built from loops, music made to move to. Earthside steps away from that. It’s slower, quieter and more inward looking, a deliberate change of pace from both his usual sound and his 2025 debut album Reflections. There are shades of Pink Floyd here too, a longtime touchstone for Ash, in the spacious, atmospheric builds and the sense that each track is given room to breathe. Where that record looked outward, this one starts in the dark and works its way toward the light.
The idea behind Earthside is simple, and old: as above, so below. What’s happening around us is happening within us too. Across five tracks, the EP moves from the most private, internal experience a person can have, out to something much bigger: a sense of belonging to everything else.
The journey, track by track:
– Microcosm. The opener sits in darkness, in the nest, in utero. It’s about the inner experience before anything else begins: being with yourself, in the quiet, before the world arrives.
– Sunrise. Dark gives way to light. A track about germination, the first movement, the first sign of something starting to grow.
– Mist. Early morning, everything fogged over, uncertain. Then the sun rises and the fog lifts on its own. There’s a deep comfort in that: the reassurance that this reality is real, and that it’s okay.
– Earthling. A celebration of simply being human. Comforting and accepting, this is the track where Ash finds joy in ordinary life.
– Macrocosm. Once that joy is found, perspective widens. We’re each having an individual experience, but we’re also part of one much larger, collective whole. The EP closes by zooming all the way out.
The EP also features Ash’s wife Annabelle on three of the five tracks. Her voice is used as an instrument rather than for lyrics or a typical melody, another textural layer running through the music. Together Ash and Annabelle make music as Earth & Song, and this release carries that credit.
Every track on Earthside is tuned to 444Hz, except for the closing track. Ash has long been curious about frequencies that line up with the mathematics of energy and geometry and 444Hz is a favourite. Its digital root works out to 3 (4 plus 4 plus 4 is 12 and 1 plus 2 is 3). Macrocosm shifts to 528Hz, a small, intentional change in the music itself that mirrors the track’s theme of moving from the personal to the collective.

Earthside is out everywhere today. It follows singles already released from the EP and is Ash’s first full release since his debut album Reflections (January 2025).
