Pōneke Band Re:Ruby Release New Single ‘x2’
Pōneke alternative rock outfit Re:Ruby return today with a surprise new single, x2, released via Home Alone. The track follows the band’s earlier offerings, including their acclaimed single Bunny and their 2023 EP Unearthed & Obsolete: Recordings from the Akai GX‑4000db, as well as a standout performance at Eyegum’s recent The Night Before festival.
Formed in 2023, Re:Ruby have quickly become a fixture of Wellington’s music scene. The five‑piece blend melodic songwriting with blistering guitars and explosive choruses, expanding songwriter Ruby Hawthorne’s lo‑fi, folk‑tinged origins into a vivid, adventurous sound inspired by acts like Kitchen and Big Thief.
Their new single x2 explores intimacy and the small, everyday moments where love reveals itself. Beginning with a tender, slow‑burning warmth, the track builds steadily before erupting into a fiery, all‑consuming conclusion that mirrors the emotional arc at its core.
